Nine Bright Shiners is an astounding book of lyrical poems by Theo Dorgan. It's one of the collections I will most cherish. I am going to Ireland in the winter and this book will come with me, at least in spirit. He is a master of rhyme and cadence. The book's divided into 5 sections and all are terrific. Any poet would appreciate this book which uses some conventional forms and devices but rings totally contemporary in its subjects and stance. Dorgan is one of the greatest of modern Irish poets.
